Our wilderness camping training covers essential skills such as selecting and setting up a wilderness campsite, tent management, tarp setup, some knots and campfire management.

Instructors emphasize the principles of tracklessness, promoting a responsible approach to exploring nature. This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge they need to ensure pleasant, safe and rewarding camping experiences.

At the end of this course, students will know how to set up a comfortable and safe camp site.

This course teaches participants how to prepare delicious meals in the open air, focusing on the use of different tools and techniques used in the outdoors.

Our instructors supervise every step, from ingredient selection to outdoor cooking, while stressing the importance of minimizing our impact on the environment. You’ll finish with a chance to sample all the dishes prepared during the workshops.

This hands-on experience aims to perfect culinary skills while promoting a respectful approach to Gaspesian nature.

Our outdoor orienteering training covers skills in cartography, compass use, gps and cellular mapping, as well as field location techniques. Participants will learn elements of map reading, topography and geographic positioning. This hands-on experience aims to train beginners to develop confidence and responsibility in their outdoor activities.

Participants will be greeted by expert guides where a brief introduction to wild foraging and edible plants will await them. The guides will emphasize the ethical principles of sustainable harvesting and the preservation of the local ecosystem.

The route crosses carefully selected trails, highlighting the diversity of edible plants found in the Gaspésie region. Plant identification, nutritional properties and environmentally-friendly harvesting methods will all be covered.

Participants will have the opportunity to take an active part in gathering wild plants. On-site preparation demonstrations will also be offered, providing a practical insight into how to cook and enjoy these natural finds. The outing concludes with a return to the Nordet, where participants will have the opportunity to taste simple culinary creations prepared from their harvests.

For over thirty years, SIRIUSMEDX has been providing professional guides, wilderness adventurers, occasional canoeists, scientists on mission and paramedics dedicated to providing care in remote, experiential areas with the tools they need to deal with emergency situations where 911 doesn’t exist.

This training course provides you with practical knowledge of survival situations, from building shelters in the wild. The student will be guided to recognize and choose the best site. He’ll learn the steps involved in building a shelter, and the advantages and disadvantages of different materials.

You’ll also learn the basic rules, recognize the physical and psychological dangers of survival, and prepare yourself by putting together a survival kit.

Our instructors emphasize safety and adaptability, preparing participants for emergency situations in the wilderness. This immersive experience fosters self-confidence and independence, while highlighting the importance of respecting the environment in the Gaspésie region.

The session will begin with a brief introduction to the principles of shinrin-yoku, focusing on the benefits for mental and physical health.

The route crosses carefully chosen trails in the heart of the magnificent Gaspé forest. Participants will be encouraged to engage fully with the experience, using their senses to appreciate the textures, smells and sounds of the surrounding nature. Meditative breaks will be incorporated, allowing participants to connect with the environment and feel the soothing benefits of the forest.

The guides will also share their knowledge of the local flora, highlighting the importance of biodiversity. Interactive activities, such as deep breathing exercises and moments of contemplation, will be included to reinforce awareness of the present moment.

This activity aims to offer a balance between adventure, nature discovery and well-being.

Basic sea kayaking skills! You’ll learn several paddling techniques and develop skills to prepare you for outings in calm, safe conditions! Please bring your own lunch, ideally with a thermos to keep you warm if necessary.

Your adventurous spirit will be put to the test in this course, where you’ll practice your technical skills in a slightly more hectic environment! You’ll learn and practice other recovery and paddling techniques, as well as how to plan a day out with your friends! Topics to be covered include: interpreting the weather, navigation, recommended equipment for outings, risk management, environmental exposure and hazards, etc.

Building on the skills developed in Level 1, Level 2 enables paddlers to acquire the intermediate skills they need to sea kayak in Class 2 conditions along a semi-exposed coastline, with the possibility of spending the night in a bivouac. Leadership, incident management, open-water rescue, personal care and navigation are all part of the program.
